Good day to all. What is the opportunity to place internal links in PDF documents, formed with the help of FileMaker. Best regards, Shichko Igor.
This seems more like a discussion topic than a product issue. TSGal, TSPigeon?
I print to PDF a lot of reports. I don't recall if hyperlinks are honored in the PDFs (internal or external). For "internal" are you meaning a link in the PDF to another location in the same document?
Yes, I mean a link in the PDF to another location in the same document.
I also am interested in this, Filemaker creates and email letters to clients saved as PDF's and attached to email with the script step. We have a Facebook icon on that letter which links to our facebook page with open URL. When we create the Pdf the link does not come across but our email address written in the text of the letter plus our web site also in the text of the letter does maintain the link. Is there anyway anyone knows of imbedding links in the PDF process?
By using our MBS FileMaker Plugin and the DynaPDF functions, you can add clickable links to a PDF document.
The function DynaPDF.PageLink adds a link to another page in the same PDF. The DynaPDF.WebLink function creates a link to a web page and DynaPDF.FileLink creates a link to another PDF file.
In all cases, you specify the rectangle which should be clickable and whether this should have some border or highlighting.
An icon/image that is also a "hyperlink" will not be a "clickable object" (most of the time). The way modern readers (email/pdf/??) work is that the full hyperlink as text is presumed to be a link and acts as such. Since the icon is not text, it cannot determine there is a link. And we can only push email (from FileMaker Pro) as plain text unless we use one of the many plug-ins that can assist.
I've seen my email read an address and let me link to maps and/or contacts. I've seen my email read a phone number and let me make a call. I've seen my email read a date and let me create a calendar event off it. All without anything special (tags, flags, protocols). It's just cool that it can do this, but not always accurate.
That's why you logo didn't "link", but your text did:
our web site also in the text of the letter does maintain the link
There are requests on this forum to allow HTML email (or more correctly multi-part mime content) directly (& natively) from FileMaker Pro.
Vote on them!
