No way to clone a database, neither in FMA 15 nor FMA 16. Am I missing somthing?
It won't show the option if you have the "folder" view expanded.
Click the up arrow to the right of "Save As" and you should then see the option for Type, which includes Clone, etc.
Edit: Sometimes, toggling through tile, list and side by side view will also make the Type and after saving options appear too, or resizing the window itself.
Seems like a minor bug.
Hiding the folder view
Its within the darker grey bit at the bottom, just not show due to window size.
Resizing will show it, or toggling the view will cause the folder view to shrink, in order to show it.
Don’t host the file. Open it directly using Pro or advanced and you’ll be able to clone.
I do not host the file! FPA 16 and 15 do not show the dialog to chose [clone] (MacOS High Sierra)
Try resizing the Save A Copy As dialog when it is displayed by stretching out from the bottom right corner - the save options should then appear.... it’s a High Sierra bug that I did read about in the FileMaker Knowledge Base but can’t find it any more.....
I have no trouble doing this with FMP 16 advanced in windows 10.
are You running macOS 10.13?
There is a bug with FM16, maybe 15 as well when it comes to 'export dialogs'. Try resizing the dialog window (as mentioned in earlier postings)
I just restartet my MBP and checked again and found out, that one has to pull down the lower part of the dialog box. I do not think, that this is what the design strategy of Apple really wants! And FileMaker as a 100% Apple owned Inc should use the GUI of Apple and not invent the «features».
Thank for your help
there was a knowledge base entry for that - but somehow, that entry will no longer show. Maybe there is a change of the websites on the way..
I think its a latest FileMaker issue.I went to
Pretty frustrating as it also affected the export dialog box too... Caught me out the first time I went to export as XML
