Why do they at FileMaker keep changing shortcuts that work OK?
The latest change they made (and I had hopes it would have been fixed in a maintenance update) is the use of the spacebar is the Script Workspace.
I’m used to walk through the lines with the cursor keys. This still works, but in 15 when you hit the space bar, you can either edit the comment, or get the edit dialog for a variable. Since 16 they apparently decided to kill this function when you walk through the script lines. Now I need to click the line with the mouse to get this functionality back.
So instead of making it easier with less clicks, they made it more difficult with more clicks.
Not trying to defend FileMaker, but part of the reason they do it is to standardize the shortcuts with apple's human interface guidelines and similar shortcut patterns that are more universally accepted with other apps.
EG we all know CMD+C/V are copy and paste. But if filemaker previously used something like CMD+P for paste, they are now correcting that to be the universal standard.
In this specific instance there is probably a new shortcut to walk script lines that replaced the old way. I don't recall off the top of my head what it is, but I thought you could just use the down arrow to walk lines, and the right arrow to activate each line. Most of the shortcuts I use are so subconsciously embedded that I can't write them out when asked; So I can definitely see where your frustration comes from.
