I need help with the most basic database facilitation. I have set up my list of clients and fields.
Need to create a new list with only active clients and certain fields. Where can I get this information?
What you need is a layout and a find.
The layout will allow you to create a list with only the required fields displayed.
Then the find allows you to find the subset of clients who are active. Presumably you have some sort of status field for that.
The key here is that with FileMaker you don't have 'views' – dynamic subsets of records and fields.
However, it is possible to set up a UI that provides exactly the appearance and found set that you need.
