I just discovered something rather unsettling. I have been entering 20KB JPG images into a container field that is programmed to use open container storage. I have opened that folder being used as the target for the storage and discovered that FileMaker is storing my JPG but also creating a duplicate 200KB BMP of the exact same image, the same size (H pixels wide by V pixels tall) and then displaying the bitmap on the layout, both as a small thumbnail view and as a full size pop-up view. As far as I can tell, the original JPG is serving no purpose.
I have gone through the various setup screens and combed this and other discussion groups for reference to this behavior but with no success. So I ask, is there a way to control this behavior and if so can I convince FileMaker to stop inflating my storage requirements by a factor of 10 and just use the original JPG that I dragged into the container field in the first place?
For reference, I'm using pro advanced 16 on Windows 10 (64 bit).
