Displaying Local Images in Webview using FileMaker 16

I have recently had an issue display locally stored images (through external container storage method) in Webview. The goal is to use the images stored in the container to generate dynamic HTML content in the Webviewer.

I tested this in a Webviewer in Filemaker 15 and it displays the image:

data:text/html,

<style type='text/css'>

body {

    border: none;

    overflow: hidden;

}

</style>

<html>

<body><img src='file:///Users/alex/Dropbox/SERVERDATA/PROJECTS/Database/_Tools%20&%20Plug-ins/MBS%20FileMaker%20Plug-in%20-MonkeyBread/WebViewer_LocalImages_test/TEST/Image/Apps_folder.png' height='200' width='200' ></body>

</html>

But running the same test in Filemaker 16 fails. No image is displayed.

Using Base64 is an option for me but it creates such huge text heavy output that it is very hard to export and manipulate the data.

Does anyone have an alternative solution or is this something that FileMaker needs to fix?
