Has anyone had any luck or insight using Google Drive to store their data from FileMaker to share it with others who have the FM software? I can't think of why this wouldn't work, but if anyone has any thoughts those would be greatly appreciated!
In what format would you be sharing that data? A CSV file? Or the actual FMP12 file?
You should be able to do the first, but the second would be problematic. Drive, drop box, cloud, etc are good ways to copy files in an out of FM GO's sand box, but you can't leave the fmp12 file in such a "cloud based" location and have each person open it from there. When you open it in Go, the file is copied into Go's Sandbox and now each user is using a separate copy of the file.
Got it. Are there ways, other than FM Server, to share data between two computers? SInce it is just me and a coworker, it doesn't make sense for me to have the whole server, so I am just curious what I can do to share between us two. Thanks for the help!
FMP can host the database.
FMP currently has buy one get one free FileMaker Store: Purchase single licenses of FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Advanced.
There are synch tools by SeedCode 360Works and others that you can check out.
