I have a conditional value list that works great when it outputs to a dropdown or popup menu but MGMT wants the conditional value list to show in a field automatically instead of the dropdown or popup menu. Can this be done?
Use List( )
Let's say that you have this relationship for your "CVL":
LayoutTable::Category = ValuesTable::Category
List ( ValuesTable::ValueField )
will produce a return separated list of all the values that would otherwise appear in the conditional value list once you have selected a category for that list.
Your field can be defined to simply auto-enter this list as an auto-enter Field option.
Since you asked for two methods:
A script trigger (OnObjectModify for pop up menu, check boxes or radio buttons, OnObjectSave for drop down lists) on the Category field could run a script with this single script step:
Set Field [LayoutTable::ValueField ; List ( ValuesTable::ValueField ) ]
It sounds like you want a picker. See this video:

Otherwise, take a little more time describing what you want. Thanks.
What I'm looking for is simpler than that. So II have a value list based on the entry of field A. Typically your field B will be some kind of dropdown or popup menu that will show the conditional list. Instead of that MGMT wants the field B to simply display the entire value list based on that condition from field A to be listed in the new field without using a dropdown or popup.
Field A (dropdown0 Field B (no dropdown) just a field that shows the conditional list
First Name Bob
Then it’s not a value list as you aren’t selecting values from it.
But this can be done and in several different ways. The field could use the same relationship as the CVL and List to auto-enter those values.
Can you explain two simplest methods please?
