Filemaker 12.05 (the last revision) crashes with MAC OS 10.13.1. Never had this problem before with earlier OS.
Anybody from the company (or elsewhere) with a solution or a patch - or a free upgrade?
FileMaker 12 will reach end of life on Sep 23, 2016
FileMaker 12 is past end of life for support and with it, any discount offers for upgrading. I'd highly recommend you purchase an annual license of filemaker so that you can stay up to date as new releases come out every year.
FileMaker's official position is that anything prior to v15 of FileMaker is not supported for High Sierra.
The only thing to try is to uninstall filemaker completely, reboot, then try installing it again to see if that corrects your behavior.
But as stated, there may not be a solution as FM12 reached end of life before High Sierra was even released.
This happens. FM12 is far past its end of life and there is no official support. So no fixes for it.
There are no free or discounted upgrades from FM12 to FM16. You would need to purchase FM16 or downgrade the OS back to a version that was working.
Other options are Parallels with a VM that runs older OSX. This gives you both but uses a lot of resources.
FileMaker 11, 12, 13 will crash under 10.13. Maybe a future patch might solve this - but nobody knows
Interesting that FileMaker 9 and 10 seem to run under 10.13 (but running those versions is not a good idea because of other issues - just like under older versions of osx)
One has to get new versions of FileMaker or go back to 10.12...
IMHO time to get FM16 - the files should work fine, as under FM12
Maybe a future patch might solve this - but nobody knows
It should be noted that FileMaker probably will never release "patches" for any software that is beyond end of life.
Keeping 12 on life support means keeping IWP viable. I've seen PowerBall tickets with better chances than that. LOL.
would suggest to download a trial of FMP16v3 and test - maybe the crashing will disappear - also would try it with macOS 10.13.2 - might improve things.
I meant a future release of osx, FileMaker never releases patches for non supported versions (I'm not aware of any SW company who does that)

1 in 300M is so close to 0 you have about the same chance of winning if you don't buy a ticket as if you do buy one.
(the chance of winning with one game versus no game / not playing is infinitely higher and quite a difference 0 to infinite .. )
back to the problem - i experience many crashes with FMP16v3 on macOS 10.13.2 on a daily basis - previously i had almost never (likelihood of 0) any crashes with previous version of FMP and macOS..
therefor I would be curious to know if the trial would improve the OP's experience?
I am running FMP 16 with High Sierra.
Since upgrading to High Sierra, the File Save As function fails to perform as expected. This has been known to FM since October 2017 and there is no announcement that if/when it will be remedied.
So, my suggestion is, "wait for the v 16 update" that fixes the High Sierra compatibility issues.
