How do I format this chart so that it only shows the mm:ss and not the hh:? The referenced field is a Calculation and consequently I need to keep the data on the chart "as entered".
If the referenced field is a calculation, then that calculation needs to concatenate the display for you.
Not sure what that calculation is, but you can pull the hours and minutes from a time object in filemaker with those named functions.
Minute ( YourTable::YourTimeField ) & ":" & Seconds ( YourTable::YourTimeField )
would return "15:13" if you fed in a field with "12:15:13" into it
Why do you need to keep the data 'as entered'? If I had this issue, I'd simply change how the data is presented on the graph in the graph settings.Obviously this doesn't effect the actual data in the field, but how it is shown on the graph.
Because a display as 00:00 might imply HH:MM rather than MM:SS, I wonder if the best is for a Decimal version of just Minutes?
I created a new Calculation field with the equation: GetAsTime ( "00:" & Minute ( Pace ) & ":" & Round ( Seconds ( Pace ) ; 0 ) )
"Pace" is the original variable being charted.
It didn't really do anything to help.
I have ad to resort to displaying the Y-axis at "Time" with the "mm:ss" formatting and "AM" and "PM" dropped.
Thanks for your help. I would appreciate if anyone can still get their head around this.
Have you tried to adjust the specific formatting of the text? That might enable you to shrink the data point text to something reasonable.
