I want to send an email with Filemaker Server itself, no other smtp server.
Is it possible to make script?
If so, how can I make script?
You can't sent email without an account on an email server, unless you want to spoof an address, akin to what is done with spambots. You can send an email with FMS, but you do need to give it the account credentials for a SMTP server.
You need SMTP and a plug in.
yes, and a plugin
You do not need a plugin with FM16. You can use a free account with a service like SendGrid. See this demo file:
FileMaker and SendGrid integration
You do need an email account and you do need a mail server, but it does not need to be your SMTP server. In this case it uses a SendGrid mail server. This also supports HTML email and multiple attachments.
Since it is not your SMTP server you will not see the Sent messages. The demo file is all setup with an API key and ready to send emails using a free SendGrid account.
You cando this same thing with the free Base Elements plugin if you are using FM15 or earlier, but it is not in the demo.
If you're willing to write a little code you can use a micro-service callable from an FMS script (or even directly from a FMP application). The trick is the FMP script step INSERT FROM URL.
Using the JavaAPI (as one example), with an EXISTING email account....somewhere .... you can automate email.
Even if you go over Java, you end up talking to SMTP Servers as that is how the world works.
(maybe Exchange, Kerio and others have an alternative protocol for SMTP, but internally it will do the same effect)
Of course, but I was assuming he meant no SMTP server on the FMS box itself.
