FileMaker 16

Windows 10, macOS 10.13

MacBook Pro 13" late 2013

Description:

FileMaker cannot evaluate globals fields from another file in custom record privileges when exclusively using $$variables in external datasources

Reproduce:

create a file (tVIEW) with a global field (gField)

set gField to 1

create another file (DATA) with a table and 2 records and a field (Account)

set Account of record 1 to "Test1"

set Account of record 2 to "Test2"

add tVIEW as External Datasource using a global Variable $$tVIEW

set variable $$VIEW to "file:tVIEW"

in the DATA file create custom record privileges for the view option of the table with the calculation

> view limited: gField=1

enter Find mode

set Field Account to "*"

Perform the find

Result:

no records found

Workaround:

add a complete file path to external datasources (file:tVIEW)
