I accidentally deleted a glyph in the button setup menu, how can I retrieve it.
Are you talking about a button bar SVG?
Do you have a backup before the deleted SVG? The only way I know how to manage this is to manually is to copy/paste the button bar with the SVG you need from the backup/source file to the current file. This will bring the SVG into the current file SVG library even if the copied button bar is deleted.
You can also use Option+Drag to move a copy of the button bar to the destination file in layout mode.
This works great for sets moving sets of SVGs into new files as needed.
It was a single button. I had an older backup, I created a button with the glyph I deleted and copied and pasted the button to the current working file. The pasted button has the desired glyph in the current file, but it does not show up in the button setup menu library. Is there something else I need to do to get it into the button setup library? The glyph is the up arrow head.
Are you working with a standard button or a button bar?
I've tried it with both a standard button and a button bar. The originally deleted glyph that was copied over on the button bar remains on the button bar after opening and closing the file, but it is not in the glyph library. I'm using FM Pro Advanced 16.
You can't delete, it seems, the standard FM glyphs. So this is one you created.
Do you have that .svg file around to add again to the library? If not, I can provide you one. Can you take a screenshot of it?
Mac or Windows?
bigtom recently posted a description of this method for moving groups of glyphs, but indicated that he hadn't tested it on windows so maybe there's a windows vs. mac difference here?
I am on Windows.
Here is the glyph I deleted. If you have the set, (Up, Down, Left & Right) to be sure I have a consistent set, that would be great. What is the approach to install.
I don't remember adding any images, but might have with earlier version of FM, is the library carried over with a new install?
Hm. That one isn't in the default set (I think it should be), and that fact that bigtom's idea didn't work on windows helps to confirm that.
Are you sure this is a glyph? could it be text?
This is from a old backup file.
Mark created a thread on the default glyphs:
Maybe it was a Chevron, but rotated?
Apologies, I did not test before reply. I could not rotate a single button inside a button bar. (... your choice to play with it!)
Here are four svgs that I had that are of the same style. I use these since I couldn't find exact up/down ones to match what is default.
Here's the process I went thru, for you to do whenever you need a new glyph:
1. Download an svg from any website. I use nounproject.com
2. Open it in a text editor.
3. Add the text in yellow to the svg.
4. Make sure there's a width and height (I make mine match the viewbox). This is in GREEN in my picture.
5. Save it out.
1. Open up the button library.
2. Press the + (probably this icon is a glyph )
3. Navigate to the folder and select the icon.
(Note I learned this from LuminFire's site, down below. It is sort of second nature for me. I believe there's a FM file that does this work for you, but I haven't used it. Very easy to open up the editor and make the 3-second change.

4. Make sure there's a width and height (I make mine match the viewbox). This is in blue in my picture.
Did you mean "green" not "blue".
I don't need to edit the blue right?
Yes Green. You don't need to edit it if it is already there. The 4 arrows I've got are ready to import into FileMaker.
Thanks Jeremy, I will give it a try.
