We are in the process of upgrading our filemaker server and all clients to version 16 (coming from a mixture of V12 and V13 clients). During this upgrade our goal is to make the entire system more admin-friendly by having a central login for all databases.
The data is split up in multiple databases, brought together in one menu. In total there’s well over 33GB of text-data to manage in different databases. Currently we give each user a set of privileges for every database. Whenever we need to add/remove/edit a user we need to go through all databases and edit the correct information. This whole process is not only time-consuming but also highly error-prone.
To make it more admin-friendly we hope to add one new database on filemaker server, this one database should be a login-page where a user can type credentials; after a successful login in the central login-database the user should be given proper privileges to access all other databases.
How does one go about to create this structure? We found some examples online, yet they came without any documentation on their implementation.
