Human sounding language using Replace Function

Hi

I'm working on an assessment database for children.

I want to conclude a report with a few recommendations from a list of about 300.

The recommendations are in this format:

Rephrase and expand your child's utterances. E.g., if he/she says 'bibi' you might say, 'biscuit, do you want a biscuit?'

I would like to produce a script that would populate the list of recommendations with the same text but with some critical replacements. So "your child" would become <child's name> and "he/she" becomes <gendered he/she>.

So Jane would get a report that says

Rephrase and expand Jane's utterances. E.g., if she says 'bibi' you might say, 'biscuit, do you want a biscuit?'

And John would get

Rephrase and expand John's utterances. E.g., if he says 'bibi' you might say, 'biscuit, do you want a biscuit?'

I can't get REPLACE or SUBSTITUTE functions to work using variables or related fields.

Any ideas about a workaround?

Thanks :-)
