Filemaker Cloud taking more EBS space than it should?

I have been using cloud since it was first introduced.  Ever since the beginning, the auto-snapshot backups have NOT automatically deleted as the documentation states (after 504).  I routinely end up hitting the AWS snapshot limit of 10,000 snapshots -despite not preserving more than 40.  Additionally, my FMData volume continues to grow month after month, even after deleting over 8000 snapshots.  I don't know if snapshots count against volume usage (I think not - as they are stored in S3? - Is this the case even for unpreserved backups?)  I have a total of 5 databases which should be taking up 30GB max of storage even with their external container storage (I know because I've downloaded the files off the server)- yet my 220 GB EBS volume is almost full and continues to grow.  I can't figure out what is using so much space!

Any help would be appreciated.
