I want to be able to choose which record to update - either FileMaker Pro, or MailChimp. I want some way of seeing where there are discrepancies between FMP and MC.
There is an open source module for MailChimp integration here:
The module will open most of the API functions that allow you to establish communication and push/pull records to/from mailchimp.
However, for full two-way sync between the two, you will have to write some of the code that performs the push/pull/compare functions and set it up as a server scheduled or on-demand script. I'd recommend contacting the developer who wrote that module (drew sanderson) if you need assistance integrating or customizing it.
If you plan to DIY, make sure to read the helpful comments page above.
MIke - thank you for this helpful guidance. I'll check it out!
natalietlewis - I work with the developer of that module. Just wanted to give you ( and others reading this ) an brief update.
That module was built for the old MailChimp API. So it may not work anymore. We are in the process of updating it for our own internal business use, and in the process updating the module for the v3 API.
The new module will make heavy use of FileMaker Pro/Advanced 16's new JSON functions. So you will want to be on FM 16 for sure. Unless you are ok with using a plugin, and are up to substituting the native code and testing the plugin JSON functions.
