Auto Scale the sheet size for printing would be great by adjusting on 1 or 2 pages automatically...
Don't know if there is a way on doing that ?
I'm not aware of an auto-scale, but you can control the scale with the Print Setup script step.
If using a mac. Windows dialogs don't include a scaling percent option.
Neither on Mac... Unfortunately.
Hi, I have developped a solution on receipe calculation for restaurant Chefs but when printing (depending on the number of ingredients), the only way to adjust is with a script using the print setup...
It would be great to get the auto scale on 1 page.
Txs for your answer anyway
I have used a trick where I get the count of pages (Preview Mode) then have two layouts and branch accordingly. If only one page print at 100% (a layout), otherwise print the layout at 50%. These are just layouts with appropriate font and other adjustments. It's work, but the client really needed the "ONE PAGE ONLY" for a report.
It is a bit more complicated for me. Depending on the number of articles I wrote a script which is adjusting the scale of the layout in preview mode. It works but get its limitations.
With the help of a Mac User that's a coworker:
We get complaints about this every so often when a Developer with a Mac can't get the output correct on a windows machine due to lack of a Scale option--which apparently is a limitation of the Windows OS, not FileMaker.
Not sure if this would suit, I guess it depends on how complicated your print layout is.
If you use Beverley's method of determining how many pages would print , then you could then adjust the font size of the fields on the layout accordingly so they always fit on one page.
I have attached (I hope!) a sample file to show how font size can be change according to a condition.
Hope this might help.
