I have created a database that resembles the event management starter solution. My problem is I can not get my tabs to work. I can create them but in browse mode I can't fill in the fields.I will not allow me to type in the fields. Can someone help?
did you check if in the Inspector the fields are enabled in Browse mode ?
What version are you working with ?
Yes all the fields are checked in browse Mode. I am working in FileMaker Advance 16
Are the fields really inside the tab panel?
In layout mode, test by moving the tab panel object slightly and if the fields do not move, they are not inside the panel.
If you are using FMPA16, you can also look at the field(s) in the Layout Object viewer/dialog/window (layout mode). You will see if they are inside the tab panel object or not.
The Layout Object viewer is quite useful for all kinds of situations. With the Card Windows, they are the reason why shouldn't live without it .
Are the fields in the tab defined to be from the same table-occurence as your layout's table-occurence context?
You have received excellent suggestions.
If these fail to help you, consider using "advanced editor" to upload a screen shot of your layout captured while it is in layout mode. It might provide a useful clue.
Since this is a new database, have you created the first record? I have on occasion created a layout and found I could not enter data in any fields only to find that it was a new table/database and no record was available to write in. Click the new record button and everything worked.
