Hi All. Hitting a wall getting FMP to talk to MySQL…

End Goal:

To have select set of fields from my FMP DB pushed to my MySQL DB to drive data on my website. (Using a MySQL Stack for RapidWeaver)

Using FMP as the front end for data entry and having data sent one way (to server not from server to client)

All the tutorials I found talk about getting the data from a MySQL DM to a FMP one.

What I have so far:

  1. FileMaker Pro ADV 16 on macOS
  2. FileMaker Server 16 running on macOS server
  3. A fully populated FMP DB hosted on Server
  4. A ODBC Driver installed on server
  5. 30 Demo Copy of Actual ODBC Driver for Open Source Databases installed on server

I have made the connections to the FMP DB and added the DB as a external source (just a test MySQL DB on my web host for learning how to do this)

All connections are working and I can see the MySQL DB.

The Problem:

Where I am getting stuck is.. How do I get the FMP Data to go push to the MySQL database? All the tutorials I found talk about going form MySQL to FMP. I do NOT want the MySQL DM editing FMP data at this time.

What do I do on the FMP side to link the fields and get it populating MySQL? I am guising I have to create a Layout just for this use but how is it all set up. New to this MySQL stuff.

Thanks for any help you can give!
