I want to ask whether a high spec GPU are really needed for Filemaker Server 16.
Will GPU improves the server performance in any way and make the database run more faster ?
A GPU have nothing to do with how FileMaker Server would work. CPU, Cores, Harddrive setup and Memory are the things you should look into
In general GPUs are sometimes used for intensive math, not just for graphics. But it requires that the software can take advantage of that. Never heard that FMS can, so I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it.
What needs to run faster? FMP's "Find"s, for example, are already extremely fast.
Assuming you have a relatively current computer, with, say, four cores, you could offload some of your compute-intensive tasks from FMS to a locally-running micro-service where you COULD create multiple execution threads and use multiple cores. When those tasks are done, you could send the results back to FMP.
Whether this approach makes sense -- and exactly how you would implement it -- would depend on your (non-stated) requirements.
