I have taken over an FM Cloud app from a customer who has lost the file encryption password.
So I can't decrypt the backup files
To my knowledge, there is nothing that you can do to decrypt those files without the key.
If the files are hosted on FileMaker Server and if you have credentials to open them, I would recommend exporting as much of the data as you can extract. You likely are headed for a rebuilding of this system if the client cannot remember the encryption password. Unless there is an unencrypted local copy that the client retained when EAR was invoked on the files.

FMS (non cloud) has “clear encryption passwords” option - does that require you to know the original encryption passwords to execute?
Do not do not do not--come **** or high water--invoke this option. It will clear the hash of the Encryption Password from the Server c-store. And then you will not be able to get the file re-opened on the server if it ever closes for any reason.
