Is it possible natively, or with a plugin, to programmatically generate DDRs? Ideally, within a FileMaker script. Trying to avoid using AppleEvents.
If you use MBS FileMaker Plugin, you can use the FM.RunDataDesignReport function.
We have a few customers who create reports each night automatically and put them on a repository to track changes over time. And for our examples page, I use an app which converts automatically all 500 example databases to DDR to get the the html for our website.

No it takes UI manipulation to do it. Can be scripted / programmed (like the old FMrobot tool used to do).
Wow Christian, that's a super nice MBS function!
Maybe you should start an MBS tip of the day.
Thank you, Christian. That's great. Next up: Is it possible to tailor that report down to specific elements? For example, I need only a tiny part of the DDR. Some files may be pretty large in schema and take a long time to make the DDR, and an even longer time to parse through it to get the tiny bit of data I need. It would be better if I could just specify up front - just like the GUI offers. Ay thoughts?
