Where are those photos actually kept?

I have a large contact database that correlates names with photos. Initially, I imported photos from a folder on a laptop running FMP16 into a "Photos" table. Since that time, I have moved the database to FMS to start sharing with outside clients.

Exploring tables in the database (that now resides on a mac mini based FMS instance, I find that the photo image filepaths still show the laptop. Several questions result:

  1. Where are these photo images (jpgs)? They are accessible to database clients even when the original laptop is turned off.
  2. Why does the file path still show the original laptop as a source?
  3. If I eliminated the photo folder on the original laptop, would it disrupt the FMS's ability to show photos with contact names?
  4. If I import a few more additional photos into the FMS Photos table, will it disrupt anything or can I be confident that data or linkages will stay intact?

Thanks, just learning to trust the FMP and FNS applications, but I don't want to risk rendering the system inoperative.
