New windows Best Practice (speed)

I was wondering if there is a best practice to handle GTTR via a hidden  new window

In my solution, I have an analysis layout that is has many script triggers that will update various  number fields with calculations based on user interactions such as checkboxes.

For each triggered script the general outline is that a new window  is opened > GTTR and replace field(s)/ set field(s) > close window.  However, I noticed a delay that I wouldn't expect with a one field replace calc on ~400 records max.  We are talking about ms delay, but it is noticeable from the user end and it annoys them. they think clicking a box = instant update not a ~1sec (rounded up) delay

I was thinking that a single hidden temp window that last the duration of the "Analysis" layout and rewriting the scripts to switch as oppose to creating would lessen the load?

before changing a dozen or so script any thoughts?
