I have a small business with 5 Filemaker Pro client Macs, all on a local wired ethernet. Filemaker Server 16 is running on a Mac Mini with 16g ram, and a Core i7 processor and SSD with plenty of space. We often but not always get beach balls when there's more than one user active on the database. So I'm thinking of getting a Mac Pro with 4 or 6 cores, perhaps more, to speed things up. While it's possible that in the future we'll have more concurrent users, I doubt it would ever be more than 8.
Filemaker says that a 4 core machine with 8g of ram is enough. But is that realistic? What do people actually use?
