Best practice: Notes

Hi Forum Gurus,

 

As part of our workflow solution, users add notes to a job, as they pass it on to the next user.

 

I’ve currently set up a notes table related to the jobs table.

Notes are displayed in a portal (displaying three fields: CreatedBy, CreatedTS and JobNote) on the jobs table

 

This is working as planned, but I’m having trouble creating an optimal layout as notes are often very short, and sometimes they’re mini essays. As a compromise, I’ve laid it up to display mid-length notes , but that leaves me with lots of empty space and the ‘essays’ are truncated. So the user will have to scroll to follow conversations and tap away to a different layout to read the essays. Not ideal.

 

Am I approaching this in the best way possible?

 

Is there a better approach?

 

Is there a way to have flexible note fields in the portal which displays.

 

I’ve found this 1999 approach and would like to know if this is the better alternative.
