Is there a way to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll through records in FileMaker 16?
when in Form view, not it’s not possible. This was a change many developpers asked because users didn’t notice they change the record and edited the wrong one.
There used to be...now only thru a plug-in

You mean the FM.MouseWheelScriptTrigger function in MBS FileMaker Plugin.
I may be totally missing something about these answers - or perhaps the question.
I am able to use the mouse wheel to navigate records on FM 16 Mac as a default behavior. When the mouse pointer is over any part of the record navigation area, the wheel navigates records. When the mouse pointer is over the layout, the window contents scroll (if scroll bars are present).
Sadly, it appears that this function is gone (again) in FM 17. If someone knows otherwise, please share!
I've seen many many conflicting posts on this subject. I can only imagine how the devs are getting pushed back and forth on this subject and the functionality keeps changing.
In my humble opinion, the ability to scroll through records should be a toggle in the preferences. Probably a good idea to also include the toggle in the assisted install. This way, the folks who want to take advantage of this feature can do so. Meanwhile, the mouse wheel elitists that fear the accidental changing of records can raise their heads high as they lock out that feature and shake their fists triumphantly at the heavens.
A little side-note. In 17 the ctrl-up_arrow, and ctrl-down_arrow are previous/next record keyboard shortcuts. These are also default mission control keys. If you want to use them for FM, you'll need to disable them in system preferences/mission control.
I realize this was a mouse question... but for MacBook users who may not already know, you can do a 2-finger trackpad swipe left/right to advance to the previous/next record. Much like a slide panel control swipe, but it works at a record level.
