Im in FM 12 and exporting field contents of a container.
I've seen fourm articles showing that i can do that but when i do the script step say i can't emport container fields.
How can i do it?
Be sure to use export field contents and not export records.
I made sure i have a record, that there is a pdf in the container field im exporting from....
Then please report the precise text of the error message that you are getting. That text sometimes has a clue.
Best guess from what's shown is that the calculated value for $PDF has an issue.
I agree. Often I see file names with unsupported characters that cause export errors.
Let me ask if you're exporting data to see the rich document content or dp you just want to access the text - say for searching.
If it's the latter, you can set up another text field for that container and, using a small external service, extract the data from ANY type of file you drop in that container (as long as FMP can handle the binary file type). I've tested this with DOC, DOCX, PDF, XLS, XLSX, even executable file types, DBF, TEXT, you name it.
The API supports these file types (assuming that FMP does too):
Phill was correct, it was my naming convention on $pdf.
If i eliminate one or the othere, it sends one.
How do i get it to send 2 at once?
Im going to apend them into 1 pdf....
Thank you all for your help.
That works or just do two save as PDF steps with a different file name for each. (Should you want them as separate files).
You would also need two send mail steps unless you use a plug in or api call to send mail with attachments as send mail is limited to a single attachment.
Yes. SendMail is currently limited to a single attachment.
