eSQL proper syntax for establishing relationship

I am running FMPA 16 and I have design a portal with multiple filtering and it works well. I am now working on sorting the filtered portal with the use of eSQL.

The relationship is GLOBAL field from Left TABLE = indexed field from Right TABLE and it works great in FileMaker world even when the GLOBAL has multiple values separated by a carriage return to find all possible values on right side. Now, I don't know how to properly write the eSQL statement to account for the multiple values on the left.

so far I have:

ExecuteSQL( "SELECT DISTINCT b.id__Adjuster

FROM ADJUSTER AS a JOIN ADJUSTER_ALL_CAT AS b

ON a.gADJUSTER_CAT_TYPE = b.Adjuster_CAT_Type

ORDER BY b." & $field & $$sort_desc

; ""; ""

)

The statement above works well when the global does not have multiple values, how should I write the ON part to cover for multiple values.

Thank you in advance.
