I lost the CD-ROM and has a database made in filemaker 5,Is there anywhere I can download it again, or is there one that will send it to me.
You might want to take a look here: https://support.filemaker.com/s/answerview?language=en_US&anum=10571
... where you can get 30 day trials of FileMaker 6 and 11...
You will find instructions on upgrading the file to the newer .fmp12 format so you can open it using more up to date versions of FileMaker.
I've tried that, but afterwards there are errors in the database
What kind of errors are reported? Was this a hosted file and was hosting stopped first before the file(s) was copied of moved?

Go to your backups. By the way, most current operating systems were never tested to run software that old and that could be one reason for errors. You best option is to upgrade to *.fmp12 if you really want to see and use the data. But if the data is corrupted on the drive, no amount of software upgrades will fix that. Only a backup. I assume you don't need the usual mantra about using current software for current OSs.
for a FMP5 file, You can use FileMaker 6 - don't try FileMaker 11... from .fp5 to .fp7, a migration is needed (not just converting). Some simple files might work, but there was a lot of work when migrating .fp5 to .fp7
FileMaker 6 should run FM5 files fine
