I have an email script to email a text file via my SMTP server but no email is sent and no error given.
I seem to remember from a previous post that there are problems below FM 15.0.3 if using Sierra OSX and I am using 14.0.06 with said OSX.
FM14.6 should work with Sierra OSX. Maybe you are missing some of your settings. Make sure your are using correct Port, Type etc
Please ... Post some representative (but not personal information) about how you have the SMTP dialog set up in FMP.
In particular: Screenshots.
Also, I'm sure we're all assuming that you can send email using that SMTP server from another program like Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.
Here's the script and dummy settings in screenshots.
Hmmm, well it's difficult to debug from those screenshots with FileMaker functions, but I would say most ISPs block port 25.
For SMTP, I usually use port 465 or 587.
Also, try to use TLS and also user/password authentication. That will encrypt your email at least to your own email server.
Re. your 1st line, did you need other info?
TalkTalk blocks the suggested ports but allows 25. In fact, just to make me a 'liar', it just successfully send my emails. It's done this once before and was the reason I switched to using SMTP rather than OSX Mail. Is this likely down to TalkTalk and not my FM settings?
1. why is port 25 usually blocked?
2. try to use TLS and also user/password authentication? For my security? What is TLS.
Apologies in advance for my ignorance of the above!

Port 25 is usually blocked due to SPAM. ISPs recently started doing that a few years back.
TLS is a security setting in most email programs. It may not be in FileMaker so sorry for that confusion. Encrypting your email is a feature built-in to most email clients. TLS is not end-to-end encryption--for end-to-end encryption you should look into PGP (or GPG). Getting off topic a bit, if FileMaker doesn't support PGP email, you might be able to use MBS or write your own little micro-service that could encrypt your emails end-to-end (future task).
I'm not familiar with TalkTalk so that could be the issue. You might want to contact them directly.
Also, I'd try another SMTP server if you have one as another test. GMail, Yahoo, or whatever.
