Can I set a field in a new record (same table) based on the entry of current record's field?

Good morning all,

I have a transaction entry layout for a double entry journal, which now works well thanks to the forum's help and advice. I'd like to do make some journal entries automatic, which will make a lot of the "2nd entries" much quicker.

In some cases the second entry is dictated by the first entry:

Example 1: If the field "name_1" says = Bank A and the field "name_2" says = Bank B, the data must be reversed for the 2nd entry (a new record) to say the field "name_1" is now = Bank B and the field "name_2" is now = Bank A.

Example 2: If the category "Payby" says = Credit card, the data for the 2nd entry (a new record) can be defined.

If I can do this automatically a lot of the "double entries" will be much quicker.

Is this possible?
