Hello. Is it possible to have a drop down list with all accounts in the file? I need them to assign tasks to any account holder. Thank you.
Not that I'm aware of, but we do see that need regularly - dashboards, assignments, routing requests, etc..
We usually build a separate user table that handles the creation, deletion, or setting active on our solutions so we don't have to provide direct access to Security and we only reset passwords to a default that they are forced to reset on login. We don't keep or assign passwords. The nice thing about the table is that it's then available for a drop down list or anything else you might need. You don't have to go this far, you could just create a simple value list directly and use that.
You can also use the OnFirstWindow trigger to perform a script that compare‘s the current user’s account name against those already in a table of the same and add it if not found in the table.
That sounds like a good feature. Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to advise. I did go with a Custom Value List since there are but 12 accounts in the file. I did find an FM file that pulls the account names from a DDR.xml file created by FileMaker Advanced: Creating User Records from Accounts in FileMaker It works fine but it is a bit longer to integrate the table, layout, and script to a particular file; I guess it works fine for files with lots of accounts. Gracias, otra vez.
You're very welcome. Yes, with only 12 accounts, the value list should serve you very well. Have a great day!
Gracias, Phil. I appreciate your time.
