Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a found set from portal records. Does anyone know how to go about doing this, or is this even possible?
The script step Go to Related Record (aka GTRR), does just that. From the perspective of a parent, you call the related records of the portal rows and specify a layout based on the portal records.
Beverly answer is 100% correct, I just would like get your attention on something that might be important. When you want to use GTRR and subsequently planned to delete some record it is a must to check first if related record exist because if no related record exist, you won't switch layout and you might end-up deleting records from the parent table. So I advise to script as follows (better safe than sorry):
If [ not IsEmpty ( Child_Table::id ) ]
Go to Related Record [Show only related records; From table "Child_Table"; Using layout: "Child records Layout (Child_Table)
Exit script or Show Custom Dialog
Absolutely, a 'gotcha'! I tend to script with a:
If ( count(related::PrimaryKey) )
whether I need to delete or not. I just simply don't go there if there is nothing to see when I get there.
Your "not IsEmpty ( Child_Table::id )" is as effective as the Count().
Yes I always script the GTRR with the check no matter what, my thought process came from the first time I got burned hence my comment.
