I've just installed FileMaker Pro Advanced 17. When I open one of my solutions, although there is a hide toolbar script step in the startup script, the toolbar background is still visible. I've attached a screenshot.
Thank you for your post and screen shot.
Without seeing your file, it is difficult to determine why this is occurring.
To see if this is a timing issue, insert the following script step just before hiding the Toolbar.
Pause/Resume Script [ Duration (seconds): .25 ]
Also, at the end of the script, insert:
If the issue still occurs, feel free to send in a clone of your file so I can determine why this is failing. I have sent you a private message with instructions where to send the file.
I received your file. Thank you.
I am able to reproduce the issue under FileMaker Pro 17 Advanced, but not under FileMaker Pro 16 Advanced. I have sent all information to our Development and Testing departments for review. When I receive any feedback, I will let you know.
Please have also this occurrence forwarded to Dev Dept.:
Product and version: FMPA 17.0.1 Client to FMS 17.0.1 Host
OS and version: macOS 10.13.6 Beta (17G31f)
Hardware: MBP 13* Retina (Late 2013)
Description: Script Debugger, Last Error Command unavailable ( => Script step "Hide Toolbars")
How to replicate: -
Does this only occur under the Beta version of macOS?
can't check. No NOT beta system available currently.
Maybe I made a mistake: This Script Step "Hide Toolbar" is processed while focus is on a Card Style Window.
Toolbars are probably not available for 'Card Style Window' which makes this error a expected behaviour?!
Testing was able to reproduce the issue, as it appears to be a timing issue. All information has been sent to Development for further review.
As a workaround, go into script (0112), and after line 12, insert the step:
Pause/Resume Script [ Duration (seconds): 0.25 ]
If a Card Window is active, Hiding/Showing the Toolbar will return an error 3.
Thanks for the feedback. I have already inserted on the Pause/Resume Script on a couple of the live versions of the file. Ok for for a temporary fix but looks a bit clunky as if I navigate between 2 layouts where the menubar should be hidden e.g. Home and Calendar, the menu bar appears for a quarter of a second and then disappears again. Hopefully the big can be fixed for the next FileMaker Pro 17 update.

Is there any update on a permanent fix to this? I have just updated FileMaker Pro to the latest version (126.96.36.199) and still having the same issue. Keen to upgrade all of my clients without having to go through and add the clunky Pause/Resume Script [ Duration (seconds): 0.25 ] work around for making the toolbar hide on certain layouts as it still flashes at the top of the screen as a result of the pause.
Surely this is a feature that many many developers and users will utilise for certain types of layouts, especially home pages, calendars, preferences etc. where there is no requirement for the creation/deletion of records or navigation between records and therefore no requirement for the toolbar? At present, being left with an ugly grey bar at the top of the screen ruins the aesthetics of my FileMaker solutions.
I can confirm this issue was not addressed in FileMaker Pro 17.0.2.
Additional notes from Testing show the issue occurs when maximizing the height (bottom touches screen edges) and then toggling the toolbar. One tester mentioned inserting Pause/Resume Script duration of .01 seconds.
All information is still with Development.
