I am trying to use a sub-summary printed below, however the rows are about twice as tall. I'm wondering if it's just like this or if it can be modified.
In layout mode, capture the bottom line of the sub-summary are move it up to you liking. To do so, you have to select the sub-summary part first by clicking on the far left, when it is highlighted, when you put your mouse cursor of the bottom line of the sub-summary the cursor changes into an = equal sign, click, hold and move up.
Instead of table view, try list view. In list view, you can add a sub summary layout part for your sub totals and get the same basic look that you have here, but with a great deal more control over the details of the design. It's more work to set up, but it will produce the change that you are requesting.
Thank you for your reply.
As you see in the image below, my subsummary part is very small compared to the output
I personally prefer list view however my boss has requested it in table view. If there isn't an easy fix for this issue I'm having I will go back to him saying that the table view does not work properly for the functionality we want, so it will be list view.
Table view can be "dangerous" if used by an inexperienced user. You should restrict this mode to a developer or users that are skilled because fields can be reordered, fields can be added, etc.
Moreover, in list view mode, you can re-create the same output.
I have another layout that people use to modify the data. I am creating a "print-friendly" version of that layout per request. A script will go to this page, print, and go back to the "non print-friendly" page. Luckily for me, the only people with full access are myself and my boss. He is the once that originally managed the database before I was hired.
Other than re-ordering/selecting column headers, you can replicate everything shown in your table view in list view. Your boss might not even notice the difference if you are meticulous. (I am not recommending that you mislead him/her, just that you can show your boss a sample layout that looks just like a table view and see if it's acceptable.)
Alright I'll give that a shot! Thank you all.
