I upgraded a server from FMS16 to FMS17.
SSL is working for FileMaker but not for Webdirect.
Any ideas how to repair the SSL installation so that it is also working for webdirect, or a way to put it direct into IIS perhaps?
Try Uninstal your latest once, Re-install again, Restore & Re-import the CStore! Then check and revert!!
Else JFYR go through it > FileMaker 17 SSL // Sorry for Africaans Language, Cant find English Version!
In IIS-Manager --> Sites --> FMWebSite under Actions:Bindings... check if your certificate is bound to port 443.
If it's not available from the dropdown, you might need to import it to the certificate-store: Certificates (Local Computer) --> Personal --> Certificates.
I haven't fixed this one yet, but just adding a curiosity - Android mobile Chrome browser says that it is fine, desktop browsers show the certificate as being in date when looking at the details but say it is insecure...
Did you rename or remove the left-over "filemaker server" folder after uninstalling 16?
Rebooted after the uninstall?
Was the SSL cert imported together with the intermediate bundle?
Did you re-use the serverKey.pem from the previous install or generate a new one?
It is important that you use the FileMaker UI for importing a certificate, as it also copies the cert so it can be used in IIS as well. If you manually move files into place in the CStore folder where FMS is, it will not apply to IIS. Try re-importing the cert with the UI.
You said it worked on a mobile device, but not on a desktop. That to me screams that it could be a cache issue.
If you haven't already, you should clear the network and DNS cache (on windows it's "ipconfig flush dns") as well as the browser cache / temp files where webdirect files are cached.
Also, if you google "clear certificate cache", this could be affecting things as well.
Not rebooting after installing cert has been the thing that has consistently caught me out with this one...
I tried flushing the DNS and a few different things, but in the end what worked was deleting the old key and csr files from cstore and starting again, creating a new CSR and generating a new certificate from Godaddy and importing that to FileMaker Server via the server admin web UI.
