I'm struggling with multi-field relational TOCs.

I know I'm just missing something minor.. but can't figure it out.

I have a currently working relationship as follows:

TOCs

  • BILLING > RATES

Related by:

  • BILLING::Parties = RATES::Parties
  • BILLING::Name = RATES::Name
  • BILLING::CreateDate RATES::ActiveDateBegin
  • BILLING::CreateDate RATES::ActiveDateBegin

This correctly allows me to place the field RATES::Rate on the layout that is based on BILLING and get the appropriate rate to display.

---

Now the issue: I want to add another layer 'before/below' MATTER and use that as the base layout layer.

TOCs

  • MATTER > BILLING > RATES

Related by:

  • MATTER::id = BILLING::fkMID
    - and -
  • BILLING::Parties = RATES::Parties
  • BILLING::Name = RATES::Name
  • BILLING::CreateDate RATES::ActiveDateBegin
  • BILLING::CreateDate RATES::ActiveDateBegin

This does not work. Fields are blank and portals are empty. I have double and triple checked my relationship setup and they are accurate (in fact, copied directly from the working version).

Am I incorrect in assuming this would work?

Update: I am able to get a test portal to display the proper rate if based on BILLING but is it possible to use a field from the RATES table? This field is also used in several scripts
