I'm using this script step for the first time.

I'm trying to import the content of a text file located on the C drive (windows) into a variable with no success.

The text file is: "C:/FMP/PSError.txt"

the "Open URL [With dialog:Off; "C:/FMP/PSError.txt"]" script step works fine.

More details:

I have a FMP16 database that resides on a Windows 2012R2 server.  I'm using the "Send Event" script step to run a PowerShell script on the local (Windows 10) workstations.  The PS script clears the content of the text file (on the C drive of the Windows10 workstation) and writes a 0 into it (one line one character).  As the PS script runs, if there are any issues, the PS script replaces the 0 with a numerical error code.  I need to insert that error code into a variable in FMP to present the end user with a customized (user friendly) error.

What's the syntax that I'm supposed to use?

Thanks,

Sam
