We will have to change our work habits. 15 years of importing records (all new rows) while users are logged on with nary a problem until today.
We learned the hard way that FMS17 imports lock the entire table for the duration of the import. For the past hour, existing users have stalled completely, new users could get to the main screen but then stalled when accessing the table of import. We could log FMP users off, but we have been unable to log off web users so they remain and consume time in whatever server is doing.
The import should have taken an hour, but because of the extra users taking most of the cycles it is taking much longer. Top Call Stats shows 100s of rows with start times and no end times, and only half of them are for the server-side import. The rest are wasted cycles used on keeping the ghost users held hostage.
CPU sitting at 1%. Disk throughput very low, so in a few hours we may have to bail and revert to a backup.
