How to use oauth without having all these tabs open in Safari

Product and version: FileMaker 17 Advanced

OS and version: macOS 10.13.5

Browser and version (for WebDirect only): Safari 11.1.1 (13605.2.8)

Hardware: MacBook

Description: oauth using default web browser not really convenient

How to replicate: login using client on an oauth enabled setup

Workaround (if any): switching default browser partly eliminates the problem, so does switching OS, but that is rather drastic.

Authenticating using the macOS default Safari browser leaves it open, and each subsequent authentication opens another tab. When I work on oauth enabled solutions I switch my default browser to Vivaldi, because it works better. Not perfect, but better. In Windows, it works much better as well.

When authenticating the same solutions through webdirect, Safari's behaviour is much, MUCH better, it opens a small authentication window, and closes that nicely afterwards. Any tricks to have oauth work without all this hassle? I was hoping that something like Choosy ( Choosy: A smarter default browser for macOS  ) would solve this little problem, but it doesn't really, unless I am missing something. I know this is probably not exactly a FileMaker problem, but I am looking for solutions here, and not pointing any fingers to who should solve this problem. Please help.
