How to use a dropdown value date to find set of records

Trying to use a date selection field with a moderate size of given values to filter/find a set of records according to its value. I have the values already displaying in a dropdown from the main table values.  However, clicking on the dropdown does not finding the correct records, but all records. I'm currently using a regular small window to be opened and then find the records (I don't want to use a modal). Does this format of script look okay?

I'm trying to engage targeted layouts with portals, but can't get the fields to populate those layouts. I can only get the layouts to display all records. How to connect the dots?

Select Window

Go to Layout

Enter Find Mode

Set Field [ MyTable:: EndDate; Globals:: Month_Begin & "..." Globals: Month_End ]

Set Error Capture [On]

Perform Find [ ]

If [not Get (FoundCount) ]

     Show Custom Dialog ["No records were found by this search."]

End If

Enter Browse Mode [ ]

Perform Script [ "close small window"]

Exit Script [ ]
