How to "Store" a summary field value in another  field

I have what I'm sure is a simple problem that I cannot find a solution for. I'm hoping you can help.

I have several self joins to my database that are filtering out the date range of the transactions for each record. I can pull a summary field from each back to my main solution. So for example, I know I received 10 accounts from one client in the last six months, and 12 in the six months prior to that, etc. I can calculate on these fields as well, creating a growth ratio.

What I'm having trouble with is two things:

  • Simply showing them on my parent table. The fields show a "?" unless clicked on. I know I can script to fill in another field, but I'm trying to avoid that. How can I store that summary field value?
  • Doing a conditional action on the value of the field. It does not seem to work. I assume because the value is technically fluid.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the best way to do this, and thank you in advance for any assistance.

Have  a great day.

Bill
