Hi,

I received a large table (.CSV) with student records and imported the table into a database. Each student has two date fields: Field 1 ("Begin_Enrollment_Date") and Field 2 ("End_Enrollment_Date").

When I look at the fields they both show as field type Text. I tried using Calc GetAsDate (Begin_Enrollment_Date), however I only get the value "?". I also checked to make sure the calculation value is returned as a date.

Any help would be appreciated.

A little fancy footwork?

Date( m ; d ; y ) is the function, but we need to extract the bits of text to place into there:

Let ( dt = <<yourDateText>> ;

Date ( Middle ( dt ; 5 ; 2 ) ;

Right ( dt ; 2 ) ;

Left ( dt ; 4 ) )

)

The Let() assigns the variable 'dt' to whatever field you are using. Then we calculate the values that go into the Date() function parameters. The Middle() means start at the 5th character and give me two = mm (or the MONTH). The Right() means just the last 2 characters = dd (or the DAY). The Left() is to get the first 4 characters = yyyy (or the YEAR).

HTH, come back with questions if needed,
