Best practices for internal privilege sets

Hi Everyone,

Is there an official or standard method used for internal privilege sets in Filemaker?

To clear up any confusion, the definition of an internal privilege set refers to permissions related to data entry and actions within a file. IE Given users x,y,z and actions a and b; i want to allow x and y to do a but restrict z from action b.

From past experience i have found it advantageous to match a user name to a table with fields that include an individualized permission list for each user. Each user requires a record in said table, and they need a unique username.

Another way i can see it being done is through the user groups defined in the security area. My only issue with this is the restrictive nature of the group. If i have 60-70 separate privileges or actions to restrict, i cant make n^n different groups to account for every variation.

With all that being said, what kind of solution do you believe would be most effective and are there other methods of accomplishing the above.

Thanks
