Has anyone tried making progress bubbles? Something along the lines of this image?
Here's a great video on it by the folks at Soliant Consulting:

the whole video is great.. What you're looking for starts about 3:20
Using a `button bar` could be another option. It's slightly less flexible as far as designing the area between icons, but still a good way to indicate status. Segment/icon appearance and visibility can be changed with conditional formatting, or you could omit icons and labels and just do a fill color, mimicking a progress bar.
Button bar and a good helpful designer who can design your SVG icons...
I have done it recently, and once I get to work can show a screenshot...
I'm a graphics designer, who has become an accidental Filemaker-ist. I want to actually see some sample scripts to get a feel for how this works. Love to see your screen shots, too!
I'm trying to see if I can achieve the desired UI
What I am about to describe is not better than what has already been posted, but it may be easier for a “newbie” to implement:
insert several PNG graphics with transparent backgrounds onto your layout. Give each one a Hide Object When expression that checks the value of a different global variable. Give each an object name such as “ObjectOne” for the first “bubble” image.
The expression for the first object might be:
a script with this step:
Set Variable [$$ShowObjectOne ; value: True ]
Refresh Object [“ObjectOne”]
would them cause the first bubble image to become visible.
As promised a screenshot
and for bonus, a file...
Use case here is showing whether progress has reached the end of a stage or is in progress at the next stage
uses binary to store the progress as a number, so it does require a custom function to drive the conditional formatting on the basis of whether a specific bit is set or not.
Graphics are SVG and multi-section button bar with hid when conditions...
