I have a field with Gold Silver and Bronze words. I want to count how many of each. Help please
Easiest is a summary field and a subsummary part. Then sort by this field and ... ready.
Depending on your needs, a simple ExecuteSQL does this quickly as well.
This approach has the added advantage over other suggestions here as being a "standard" (non FMP-only) approach: SQL Thus, should your data ever need to go to MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or to any other RDMBS, your basic SQL logic (the select statement, that is) can go right along with it!
As another alternative you could setup a relationship and use the Count() function.
I would use the PatternCount function
