Trying to do a calc for a field. I am trying to enter the exact time for a video clip like 00:00:02:34 So that would be 2 minutes and 34 seconds into the video but I want to enter 00000234 and return with the ‘:” after each 2 characters. I have been killing myself with a LET function and Left and Middle and Right but the value keeps changing and I cannot for the life of me just get the “:” after each 2 characters without the value changing. So if it was 2 hours and 20 minutes with 4 seconds and then 24 = 02200424 would return 02:20:04:24 and nothing else. Just give me the “:” after each 2 characters, that is all I am asking from Filemaker. is that too much too ask?

I am trying to log the exact time something happens in a video. Screen shot is from Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline window.

If it's a text string, you can use the Left(), Middle(), & Right() functions:

Let ( t = TimeAsTextEntryField // ######## - 8 digits ;

Left( t ; 2 ) & ":" &

Middle( t ; 3 ; 2 ) & ":" &

Middle( t ; 5 ; 2 ) & ":" &

Right( t ; 2 ) // returns as ##:##:##:##

)

p.s. I'd probably also test for exactly 8 digits...
