Certain QuickTime Codecs No Longer Play in Containers

Product and version - FMPA 17.0.1 (but also several versions back to a certain point)

OS and version - Mac 10.12.6

Hardware - MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Description - QuickTime movies with non-standard codecs no longer play in container fields and display as "Error" even when the computer has the correct codec installed.

How to replicate - Insert a file as Audio/Video into a container field and select a QuickTime with a codec like Avid DNxHD.  FileMaker will display it as just an Error and won't play it.  Do the same with an H.264 QuickTime, and FileMaker has no trouble displaying nor playing the movie.  Some screenshots are attached.

Workaround (if any) - None that I'm aware of.

QuickTimes in container fields used to play in FileMaker so long as you had the correct codec installed.  At some point (maybe v14-ish?), FileMaker seems to have changed the way either containers work or how QuickTimes are handled?  The file is inserted fine, and if you export it from the container, it plays without issue.

Is there a way to view any QuickTime in FileMaker again without transcoding them all to something like H.264?
